Our convention brings old friends and new together, year after year to do the one thing we all love...playing board games! Join us May 10th through 12th to get your gaming in! This year we're officially taking the convention to the beach, as we're hosting the event at the Shell Island Resort on Wrightsville Beach.

Board Games at the Beach first started in 2015 as a way to bring our community of coastal board gamers together for one full weekend of non-stop gaming. It was created by Heath Newton, the owner of CFG, and although he LOVES board games, he never had the time or folks altogether at the same time to play games. And so Board Games at the Beach was born! BGatB is a carved out weekend we host each year to bring folks together to do nothing but play the games they love and have been dying to play. BGatB gives  folks 24/7 access to an open playspace and gaming happens organically rather than at a scheduled time. No need to show up at a specific time, you can hop over to the convention whenever you want. Or maybe you're like me and once you get there you never leave and just roll into game after game!
Each year we post a database where folks can list what games they are bringing to the convention, that way you don't have to worry about packing the same game someone else brought. There are games provided by players, our store, and the Play-to-Win!

Since 2015 we have always featured a Play-to-Win section at our event. Play-to-Wins are where board game publishers send us games for folks to play during the convention and be entered for a chance to win that game! Every year we have amazing publishers donate games to help support our convention. When you play one of the Play-to-Win games we ask that players provide feedback on what they thought of the game so that we can provide publishers with useful feedback on their games! Play-to-Win is one of our favorite parts of the convention! We love to see folks trying new games they might not have thought to try before or that they've been dying to get their hands on. 

Tournaments

Our Top Four Finalists for our 2023 Catan Regional Qualifier.

Our convention is all about casual open-gaming, but we love making time for competitive events especially ones that earn some sweet prizes. At our 2023 Board Games at the Beach event we have held a Catan Qualifier where the winner won a seat at the Catan Nationals. Our Regional Qualifier for Catan is so popular we made a Catan Badge this year!

On top of our Catan Qualifier we also run a World Series of Board Gaming tournament where the winner of the tournament will earn a Day Pass to WSBG in Las Vegas. In years past we've hosted an Azul and Splendor tournament, but this year we are running a Cascadia Tournament! We're thrilled to be able to offer our attendees a chance to play games all over the United States by playing in our events!  

With the 2024 Board Games at the Beach quickly approaching we are planning all sorts of fun activities for everyone (including a Viticulture and Wine Pairing event AND a Button Trade that'll happen all weekend long)!
