Whether you're a seasoned painter or just starting out, this event is a great opportunity to showcase your creativity, improve your skills, and compete for some amazing prizes!
Painters will have four weeks (from Monday, July 14th to Sunday, August 11th) to complete their miniatures. Judges and the community will have one week of deliberation and voting before winners are announced on Monday, August 18th.
Entry Categories:
Each participant may enter two miniatures into a two separate categories of their choosing.
- Small Model - Base 60mm or less
- Large Model - Base 61mm or more
Prizing per Category:
- 1st - $40
- 2nd - $20
- 3rd - $10
- Noted Beginner - $10
Entry Fee Options:
- $10 per model
- This option allows you to bring in any model from home to enter the competition.
- Limit model selections to gaming models only.
- No 3D printed models. Small details okay with judge approval. Items must be approved PRIOR to the start of the competition. (July 14th)
- Model Purchase:
- Purchase a relevant model and accessories ($30+) directly from our store and use it as your entry. The model you purchase will serve as your entry fee.
- Previous Purchases: Unpainted models purchased within 2 weeks of start date also qualify, just provide proof of payment on a $30+ purchase.
Entry Requirements:
- Phone number and email for each participant. Discord is STRONGLY encouraged but not required.
- Photo Documentation: This documentation will help us track your work and showcase your creative journey! Participants must take and submit clear photographs of the progression of their painting via GForms, including:
- Beginning: A photo of the model in its assembled, primed, unpainted form. Must be submitted between July 14th-20th.
- Middle: A photo showing the model partway through the painting process. Due July 28th.
- NOTE: Do NOT begin painting early! You will be required to photograph your assembled, unpainted mini with a specific item that will be announced on the morning of July 14th. Any participants who have not submitted their beginning photo by EOD on Sunday, July 20th will be refunded and removed from the competition.
- Completed miniatures MUST be in-store by Monday, August 11th. You may drop off your miniature starting Saturday, August 9th. Any miniatures dropped off late will not be eligible for ranked prizing.
Judging Process:
- Judges: A panel of three qualified judges will evaluate all entries based on creativity, technique, paint application, and overall impact.
- Tie Breaker: In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a popular vote, so make sure to bring your friends to vote for your masterpiece!
- Feedback: Individual feedback provided directly to participant on request!
In-Person Session:
To help participants refine their skills, we will also be hosting 2 In-Person Sessions:
Thursday, July 17th and Saturday, August 2nd
During these sessions:
- Receive Tips and Tricks: Experienced painters will offer professional advice and techniques to help you improve your painting skills, regardless of your experience level.
- Free Access to Supplies: Participants will have access to a wide range of paints, brushes, and other materials to enhance their work during the event.
- Q&A Session: Bring your questions about techniques, brushwork, and painting strategies, and get personalized feedback!
Additional Details:
- This event is open to all skill levels, and we encourage both new and experienced painters to participate.
- Models will be displayed in-store during the voting phase of the competition, providing an opportunity for others to admire your work and be inspired.
- The competition will run for 4 weeks, with winners being announced after an additional week of judge deliberations and voting.

- Mold Line Removal: Thorough elimination of mold lines to ensure a clean surface.
- Component Integration: Seamless joining of parts without gaps or misalignments.
- Craftsmanship: Attention to detail in all aspects of model assembly and preparation.
- Presentation: This criterion examines the overall visual impact of the entry, considering:
- Composition: Arrangement of elements to guide the viewer's eye and create balance.
- Base Design: Creativity and execution of the base, enhancing the model's context and storytelling.
- Thematic Expression: Effectiveness in conveying a story or theme through the miniature.
